Sonic Moonshine (“we,” “us”) is a cover band based in San Diego, California. This policy explains how we handle information on sonicmoonshine.com and related domains that serve this public site.

We wrote this to match what the site actually does. We do not run advertising pixels, Google Analytics, or a newsletter signup. If we add those later, we will update this page first.

Information we collect

Contact form

If you send a message, we collect the name and message you enter, plus an email address and/or phone number so we can reply. Name and a way to reach you are required; we cannot respond without them.

Technical information

When you visit the site or submit the form, our hosting and form backend (Google Firebase) receive standard request data such as IP address, browser type, date and time, and the pages requested. We also store your IP address for a short window when you submit the contact form so we can limit spam.

What we do not collect

This site does not create visitor accounts, take payments, or ask for dates of birth, government IDs, or other sensitive personal information. We do not use first-party analytics or advertising cookies.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • Read and reply to booking requests and other messages
  • Keep the site running, secure, and free of abuse
  • Show public content such as shows, news, photos, and music

We do not use contact-form information for marketing lists, and we do not sell personal information.

How we share information

Messages go to our band inbox. A copy may also be emailed to our booking address (sonicmoonshinerocks@gmail.com) so we see it quickly. We do not share visitor information with other bands, venues, or advertisers.

We use service providers who process data for us:

  • Google Firebase hosts the site, stores public show and site content, stores contact messages, and runs the contact-form function. Google’s privacy practices are described in the Firebase privacy documentation and the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Email delivery may go through Google’s Gmail SMTP if we have notification email turned on.

We may also disclose information if we are required to by law, or to protect the band, our visitors, or others from fraud or abuse.

Cookies and similar technology

We do not set advertising or analytics cookies. The Firebase tools that load show listings and other public data may use the browser’s local storage so the site can function. You can clear that storage in your browser settings.

Third-party features you can choose to use

These features are optional. If you use them, the other company’s privacy policy applies:

  • Bandcamp player — published recordings on the Music section load in a Bandcamp embed. Bandcamp may set its own cookies and collect data when that player loads. See Bandcamp’s privacy policy.
  • Add to Calendar — choosing Google Calendar or Outlook opens that provider’s site with the show details you asked to save. Downloading an .ics file stays on your device.
  • Social links — Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and similar icons are ordinary links. We do not embed those networks’ tracking pixels.

How long we keep information

  • Contact messages stay in our inbox until we archive or delete them. Archive keeps a copy for our records; it does not automatically erase the message.
  • Contact-form IP addresses are kept only long enough to enforce a short rate limit (about 15 minutes).
  • Hosting and function logs are retained by Google according to their service defaults (typically weeks to a few months for IP-related hosting logs).

Your choices

You can email us to ask what contact information we have from you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete a message. We will take a reasonable step to confirm the request is yours before changing or deleting records.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as GDPR (EU/UK) or state privacy laws in the United States. We are a small band and are not trying to sell or share personal information for advertising. If you want us to honor a specific request, write to sonicmoonshinerocks@gmail.com and we will help.

This site is hosted in the United States. If you contact us from another country, your information will be processed here so we can reply.

Children

This site is for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

We use HTTPS and store messages in a private inbox that only band admins can read. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes

If our practices change — for example, if we add a newsletter or analytics — we will update this page and the “Last updated” date.
