Privacy Policy

Sonic Moonshine (“we,” “us”) is a cover band based in San Diego, California. This policy explains how we handle information on sonicmoonshine.com and related domains that serve this public site.

We wrote this to match what the site actually does. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit. We do not run advertising pixels. You can join our mailing list or text Alerts if you want show news. SMS program rules are on our Terms page. You will receive up to 2 text messages per month if you join Alerts. Message and data rates may apply.

Information we collect

Contact form

If you send a message, we collect the name and message you enter, plus an email address and/or phone number so we can reply. Name and a way to reach you are required; we cannot respond without them. The form is on the dedicated Messages page and the Email us tab on the homepage. A phone number on this form is only so we can call or text you back about that message. It is not consent to join an SMS alert list.

Technical information

When you visit the site or submit a form, our hosting and form backend (Google Firebase) receive standard request data such as IP address, browser type, date and time, and the pages requested. We also store your IP address for a short window when you submit the contact form, the Alerts signup, or the mailing-list subscribe/unsubscribe forms so we can limit spam.

Text messages (SMS)

If you opt in to Sonic Moonshine Alerts, we collect the mobile number you give us and a record that you consented, including the consent language shown at signup. The opt-in is the dedicated Alerts form or the Text alerts tab on the homepage — not the Messages form. Anyone may join, including band members; there is no separate band-app text list. You will receive up to 2 messages per month. Those may include an automated reminder about 2 days before a public show, plus schedule changes and occasional news. Message and data rates may apply. Mailing list

If you join the mailing list, we collect the email address you enter and an optional name, plus a record that you asked to be added. Signup is the mailing list page or the Mailing list tab on the homepage. It is not the Messages form. A band member may also add or remove your address if you ask us (for example in person or by email). We store that record and add your address to our Google Contacts mailing label so we can email show news from Gmail. Leave the list on the unsubscribe page; that removes the label from your contact and keeps a suppression record so we do not add you again unless you sign up or ask us to add you.

Website analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (through Firebase Analytics) to see which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are, what device and browser they use, and how they arrived at the site. Google processes that information for us. We do not use it to show you ads, and we ask Google not to use these visits for advertising personalization.

What we do not collect

This site does not create visitor accounts, take payments, or ask for dates of birth, government IDs, or other sensitive personal information. We do not run advertising pixels.

No mobile data will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We do not sell, rent, or share mobile numbers or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their marketing.

Messages go to our band inbox. A copy may also be emailed to our booking address (sonicmoonshinerocks@gmail.com) so we see it quickly. We do not share visitor information with other bands, venues, or advertisers.

Cookies and similar technology

Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) when you load a page so it can tell repeat visits from new ones. These are not advertising cookies. The Firebase tools that load show listings and other public data may also use the browser’s local storage so the site can function. You can clear cookies and storage in your browser settings, or use a browser add-on that blocks Google Analytics. We do not show a separate cookie banner today.

How long we keep information

Your choices

You can email us to ask what contact information we have from you, to correct it, or to ask us to delete a message. We will take a reasonable step to confirm the request is yours before changing or deleting records. Browser settings and Google’s Analytics opt-out tools can limit analytics cookies; we cannot turn Analytics off for one visitor from this site.

If you opted in to texts, reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help. You can also email sonicmoonshinerocks@gmail.com. Message and data rates may apply. Full SMS rules are in our Terms.

If you joined the mailing list, use the unsubscribe page or email sonicmoonshinerocks@gmail.com. When we send list email from Gmail we include that unsubscribe link.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as GDPR (EU/UK) or state privacy laws in the United States. We are a small band and are not trying to sell or share personal information for advertising. If you want us to honor a specific request, write to sonicmoonshinerocks@gmail.com and we will help.

This site is hosted in the United States. If you contact us from another country, your information will be processed here so we can reply.

Children

This site is for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

We use HTTPS and store messages, SMS opt-in records, and mailing-list records privately so only band admins can read them. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes

If our practices change — for example, if we add advertising — we will update this page and the “Last updated” date. SMS program changes are also posted on Terms.
